Read a little bit more about the team behind the HUMO™.
Sebastian and his brother grew up in 1950s London, with bombed sites and very little traffic. They enjoyed playing in the road with soap-box carts - primitive things made from old prams, square wooden boxes, and rope-steering. He certainly wasn't very skilled at making them, but they trundled along when the wheels didn't come off, and they were good fun while they lasted.
In an amateur way, he was always interested in inventions. After an early career as a translator and teacher, he worked for a small family business producing hydrophilic foam. The manufacturing-process was more or less unique, which meant that most of the machines had to be 'one-offs', and everyone had to understand how they worked.
Sebastian is retired. He used to play the French Horn, until the MS paralysed his left hand (the one which operates the 'keys'). He spends a lot of time listening to classical music, and hopes to do some reading - and even writing - when the HUMO™ is launched.
Rupert has been working at IBM in London for 9 years now, having cut his technological teeth studying Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh. He led the IBM team that built the network and IT security for Transport for London's (only semi-popular) Congestion Charging scheme in 2009, and then spent 4 years selling technology services to one of the UK's largest banks. Most recently he has been doing a 1 year placement working directly for the Chief Executive of IBM UK & Ireland.
Rupert hails from the Kent countryside but lives in north London, and wants a HUMO™ to replace the morning bus ride.
Engineering, Sales and Marketing
Having studied Aerospace Systems Engineering in Bristol, Olu began his professional career as a Sales Engineer selling aluminium extrusion and providing bespoke engineering solutions designed from extrusion. Through this career was how he crossed paths with the Humo Champs and was straight away captivated by the idea of building a human powered vehicle using the extrusion kit.
Olu has recently taken up a new challenge at Bombardier Transportation working as a Production Engineer.
Besides being a proud HUMO™ Champion, Olu would actively be supporting with the Sales & Marketing aspect of the HUMO™.
"I know what it is like to have dream. It is a great feeling to work with a group of talented individuals that are very focused on making a dream become a reality".
Currently on the cusp of finishing her Bachelor of Business, majoring in Marketing (yay!) at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Tess is in quite a stressful place. But that's okay, because due to her role as an intern at USQ, she works alongside Student Services and has recently learned stress can be a positive thing.
Due to the knowledge she has acquired through her degree and position within the Online Marketing team at USQ, she is assisting the rest of the HUMO™ Champs by doing what her generation does best, posting everything on social media.
As a magnanimous gesture, Tess is moving from Australia to the UK in order to help the HUMO™ Car vision to become a reality.
After graduating from Oxford, James was an actor for ten years, with companies such as the RSC. For the last fourteen years he has been a trainer, facilitator and coach, helping people in organisations to communicate more effectively. He has worked up to partner and board level with major professional services firms, financial services, the pharmaceutical, retail, energy and construction industries, and in the public sector. He lives in Devon with his partner Flora (Sebastian's daughter) and their twin daughters. He's hoping they'll grow up to drive HUMOS™.
